The Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Julian Kuerti open the 99^th concert season with music inspired by pictures. Guest violinist Leticia Moreno joins the orchestra for this season premiere at Western Michigan University’s Miller Auditorium on September 20, at 8 p.m. 

KALAMAZOO, Mich., Apr. 18, 2019 – Create shared, live musical experiences with your Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra during our exciting 2019-20 concert season. Performances will encompass a diverse range of music from the baroque to music of the present day and expand Kalamazoo community connections with the symphony. The orchestra’s 99^th concert season is the first fully designed by the KSO’s new Music Director, Julian Kuerti.

KALAMAZOO, Mich., Mar. 7, 2019 – The Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra’s exploration of fifth symphonies continues Saturday, March 9, with “Symphony No. 5 in C-sharp minor,” by Gustav Mahler. The concert opens with the “Clarinet Concerto ‘Nekudim,’” by modern American composer Jonathan Leshnoff (JonathanLeshnoff.com), featuring KSO Principal Clarinet and Artist in Residence, Georgiy Borisov, as soloist. KSO Music Director, Julian Kuerti, will conduct the orchestra.

KALAMAZOO, Mich., Nov. 14, 2018 – On Saturday, November 17, the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra continues its exploration of fifth symphonies with the “Symphony No. 5 in E-flat Major, Op. 82,” by Jean Sibelius. To conclude the concert, Russian-American cellist Nina Kotova joins the orchestra for Antonín Dvořák’s “Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104.” 

Kalamazoo, MI November 27, 2017 – The Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra is proud to present this year’s Sounds of the Season concert, Music from The Movies with Sara Andon, including music from your favorite holiday movies: The Polar Express, Frozen, Elf, It’s A Wonderful Life and many more. With KSO Resident Conductor/Interim Music Director, Daniel Brier, at the podium the concert will feature international flute soloist and recording artist, Sara Andon, along with the Kalamazoo Children’s Chorus, directed by Fred Sang.

Kalamazoo, MI September 21, 2017 – The Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra is excited to present the first Family Discovery concert of the season in collaboration with Classical Kids LIVE!.  The KSO’s Family Discover Series concerts feature symphonic performances specially tailored to young children and their families.
