The current season offers a variety of experiences:
- Featured programs on Mozart, Schumann, and Dvorak
- Ellis Island - dramatically presented with actors, staging, and dancers
- 1812 Overture with chorus, children's chorus and effects
- Teaming with nationally-acclaimed tribute bands to present classic rock shows
Building Your Community
The KSO plays its part in building a strong Kalamazoo. Award-winning educational programming supports student success throughout Southwest Michigan. From encouraging musical exploration (Instrument Petting Zoo) to providing comprehensive musical study/experience (Youth Concerts) to supporting advanced learning opportunities, the KSO's programs complement the comprehensive music instruction in the schools.
Working collaboratively with organizations and businesses throughout the region, the KSO contributes to the city's vitality and economic growth. Our concerts and programs attract visitors from all over Southwest Michigan, and our Artist in Residence auditions attract talent from all over the nation to live and work in Kalamazoo. The KSO helps keep the arts a vital part of the quality of living in our community.

The KSO reflects Kalamazoo's high standard of quality to the nation. Recognized for decades as a leading U.S. orchestra, the KSO's recent honors include: 2008 Award for Arts Access; 2006 Music Alive Award; 2003 Silver Award for Education; and 2000 Ford Foundation Leadership Grant creating the Artist in Residence program.
The KSO's excellence regularly gains recognition with each guest artist and conductor that arrives in town. Impressed by the high artistic quality of the orchestra, these guests also give high praise to the people and culture of our community.
